OVERVIEW

The LymiSynth Photoreactor is made for the evaluation, optimization and screening of photochemical syntheses, it is characterized by consistent conditions and reproducibile experiments.

LumiSynth´s LED light source is located on top of the reactor, from there light is transmitted to the inside of the reactor via total internal reflection through a light transmitter quartz glass rod. Light emission takes place at the tip of the glass rod ensuring direct sample irradiation.

Powerful LEDs are used as light source, these are actively cooled by a heat sink ensuring constant irradiance for long-term (> 48 h) and permanent operation.
There are LEDs of 8 different wavelengths ranging from 365 nm to 660 nm with focus on UV and violet VIS light.
The irradiance can be adjusted using the LumiSynth 4-Port Interface in increments of 10 mA of the maximum operating current (900 mA to 1500 mA depending on LEDs wavelength).

The 4-port cap offers feedthroughs for the integration of tubes (gassing, inerting & dosing), speti (sampling), sensors (monitoring & reaction temperature control). The integration of said components is realized employing ferrules (UNF ¼“ 28 thread) in combination with fittings. Fittings offer feedthroughs with an inner diameter of Ø = 1.6 mm (1/16”) or Ø = 3.2 mm (1/8”), unused ports are sealed with blind fittings.

Photochemical experiments can be carried out under inert or pure gas atmosphere conditions, as component integration into the 4-port cap via ferrules with fittings and sealing of all plug connections with O-rings guarantee a gas-tight experimental setup.

Reactor vessels are made from Duran® glass, there is a“LV low volume” and “HV high volume” version. The LV vessel is made for batch sizes about 3 mL and the HV version for batches up to 20 mL.

Precisely controlled reaction temperatures can be achieved with a reactor-internal temperature sensor (integrated into the 4-port cap) connected to the PI controller of the xelsius reactor workstation enabling dynamic temperature regulation.

LumiSynth 4-Port Interface

Controller for four LymiSynth Photoreactors:

The irradiance of up to four photoreactors isadjusted using the LumiSynth 4-Port Interface, settings are entered with a rotary encoder and shown on a LCD display.

Irradiance is adjusted in increments of 10 mA of the maximum operating current of a LED (from 900 mA to 1500 mA depending on LEDs wavelength).

LEDs are auto-detected and the maximum operating current is set according to their specifications.

Photoreactors can be operated either in continuous mode or for a specified time period with a timer mode.

A overview tab summarizes the individual settings of each channel (operating current (irradiance), timer function, LEDs wavelength), these settings can be saved, loaded or reset.

Remote control is established via WiFi connection.
